Microsoft is hiring OpenAI founders to lead its AI research team following a change in the maker of ChatGPT

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, also tweeted that Major investor in OpenAI — behind the chatbot that launched the generative AI craze — was looking forward to “getting to know” OpenAI’s new CEO, former Twitch boss Emmett Shear, and the rest of the management team.

Nadella wrote on Xformerly known as Twitter, said Microsoft “was very excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, along with their colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.”

“The mission continues,” Altman said in response to Nadella on Channel X.

OpenAI said on Friday that Altman was fired after an audit found that he “was not always candid in his communications” with the board, which had lost confidence in his ability to lead OpenAI.

Altman catapulted ChatGPT to global fame while serving as the company’s CEO, and last year became Silicon Valley’s sought-after voice on the promises and potential pitfalls of artificial intelligence.

OpenAI announced last week that co-founder Brockman will step down as chairman but will remain chairman. Brockman followed up with a post on X in which he reprinted a letter he sent to OpenAI employees in which he wrote: “Based on today’s news, I have resigned.”

“Sam and I are shocked and saddened by what the board said today,” Brockman wrote on X.
