A car exploded on a bridge connecting New York and Canada, and the border was closed

The border crossing between the United States and Canada is closed after a car exploded at a checkpoint on a bridge near Niagara Falls.

According to information from the Associated Press, the FBI in Buffalo said in a statement that it is investigating this explosion that occurred at the Rainbow Bridge.

It should be noted that this bridge connects the two countries (the United States of America and Canada) across the Niagara River.

Photos and videos taken by news organizations and shared on social media showed a security booth engulfed in flames.

Other than a car explosion on this bridge, no additional information was immediately available.

Governor Kathy Hochul said she had been informed of the incident and was “closely monitoring the situation.”

The Rainbow Bridge is one of four border crossings linking Ontario to western New York. The others are Lewiston, Whirlpool and Peace Bridge.

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission says all four crossings are closed, the AP reports.
