Future Film Festival, animated cinema is coming to Modena – Cinema

Quality animations despite reduced resources and the relationship between creativity and artificial intelligence: these are some of the themes of the Future Film Festival, the first Italian festival dedicated to animated film, visual effects, virtual reality and augmented reality, games and media art, which returns to Modena for the third year, from November 24 to 26, with the novelty of free access to initiatives, while places last. After the first part of the festival ended in the past few days, in the historic area of ​​Bologna, the manifestation, now in its 23rd edition, arrives at Cinema Astra and the Open Laboratory, where design workshops, conferences and non-stop screenings of short films are scheduled. The theme of this edition is Be Kind Remake, i.e. the possibility of creating and producing a film with few resources, favoring the inventiveness of the author and hyper-technology.


The Future Film Festival is promoted and organized by Rete Doc, the largest Italian network of professionals in culture and creativity, in cooperation with the Friends of the Future Film Festival Association, with the support of the Municipality of Modena. “The city of festivals continues its growth path – comments cultural advisor Andrea Bortolamasi – With the Future Film Festival, we bring the best of animation to Modena, in a program that consists of innovation and experimentation. The Festival in Modena opens on Friday at Cinema Astra: among the scheduled events, the screening of the animated film ‘Slide’ (USA, 2023), by the American animator Bill Plympton, one of the international protagonists of independent animation, stands out. to whom the Festival is paying tribute this year.
